Why is my API key suspended?
Your Akismet API key could get suspended or show as invalid for several reasons:
- You need to select a plan
- Ensure you have selected an Akismet plan for your site. Without a plan, your key may be suspended.
- You need a commercial plan
- The Akismet Personal Plan is only for personal, non‑commercial sites. If your site is commercial, upgrade to a commercial plan to avoid suspension. If your site is in any way related to a for‑profit business or educational organization, then it is considered commercial.
- Resolution Time:
- After resolving the issue, it may take up to 24 hours for the suspension message to disappear. Alternatively, deactivate and reactivate the Akismet plugin to expedite the process.
