Page sidebars are not displayed

Hello.. whenever I add any widgets to the page sidebars, the page sidebar is not seen in any pages. For ex. in the homepage, I have added the archives widget to the page sidebar. However, this is not shown on the homepage nor in any other pages. Is this a theme issue?
