Yoon Hae-Joon (Kim Dong-Wook) started his career at a broadcasting station as a local news reporter. He now works an anchor for the weekend news program and is the youngest anchor to ever work at the broadcasting station. He is calm and straightforward as a journalist and kind to people in his personal life.
Baek Yoon-Young (Jin Ki-Joo) dreamed of becoming a writer, but, to support herself, she works at a publishing company. She is under a lot of stress because of her job and she sometimes takes it out on her mother. One day, Baek Yoon-Young faces a shocking case that changes her life.
Yoon Hae-Joon and Baek Yoon-Young somehow both travel back in time to the year 1987. There, Yoon Hae-Joon tries to find the truth behind a serial murder case and Baek Yoon-Young tries to prevent her parents from marrying. Their goals seem completely unrelated, but they soon realize that their objectives are connected.

I love how they focus the main characters on solving the mystery thriller that they need to fix instead of focusing on the romance of the two main leads. They keep the suspense of the mystery up until the last episodes. And I'm telling you that every character and every scene will make you feel thrilled! Worth recommending and definitely to watch. Although personally the ending of knowing who is the murderer can do better, it's not an ugly ending. All the actors and actresses did a good job—a 10/10 drama.
Ana Aug 14 2024 4:13 pm I'm buffled, one of the best k-dramas I've seen recently! And so disappointing that it's so underrated. Everything about this drama is top notch, chemistry, acting, plot, settings, directing. Even though there was no intimate or kissing scene throughout, I don't feel being deprived of. It doesn't even feel necessary. The feelings the characters show for each other are so genuine and raw, that you don't need additional doping. The plot is so well crafted, that until almost the very end you don't really know who the killer is, you suspect everybody. And how the killer's identity is released is one of the best plot twists - the scene with his mom coming to him and showing him her knitting is absolutely brilliant! The drama deserves all the praise. Truly magnificent masterpiece.

Dita Apr 19 2024 11:18 pm Seriously I need to rave about this hidden gem! After "The Red Sleeve," I was in a K-drama slump. I didn't find any drama worth watching until I googled "the most underrated K-drama" and stumbled upon this masterpiece! The storyline? Totally gripping! But what sealed the deal for me was the perfect casting. The younger actors look uncannily like their older counterparts!! So no confusing flashbacks here.
The acting is quite solid, especially for Jin Ki Joo. The fact that this drama didn't sweep any award is a joke XD, Seriously a definition "underrated"

I agree it is underrated. I am 63 and my grandaughter (16) watched it with me. We were captivated from the first episode.

Agnes Jan 03 2024 2:13 pm Time travelling drama r hectic to make, the actors did amazing job!! The chemistry between main leads was so natural and easy going.. I loved it! I just wanted to see baek hee seop's uncle in future too.. he was annoying in the beginning but I liked him afterwards. I wanted to see more of their future lives.. and yoon young's grand parents too.. the drama was brilliant and really it's underrated... Again, the most loved thing was main couple's relation... It grew naturally with time... Not like those forceful love at first sight thing or just suddenly falling for someone... Especially last 4 eps were way too amazing.. I wanted a bit more of future?

Kim Dong Wook and Jin Ki Joo played their roles well, the romance could have built up earlier to convince audience of their love for each other. The only thing not convincing enough is the motive of the murderer.

And i love the kind of romance they showed here, you dont have to have them to kiss like every episode. A job well done especially to the one who'd responsible doing the casting bcs the younger version looks exactly like older version especially Soon Ae. Young Soon Ae look exactly like the older Soon Ae.

The facial expression and the voice of Dong-wook is very attractive, and can feel his love to ki-joo. Love them much. Hope they have a special episode about their modern time.

San Jun 21 2023 1:28 am This drama is so underrated!! I loved every second of it and I'm sad it ended. For me it was one of the best dramas of the year, maybe even a bit better than Good Bad Mother. It was a good one too, but I love when there is a twist I can't guess and a final showdown, like what happened here. i really really really loved this. So happy i started watching it out of a spontaneous decision.

I've found the answer for 16th may mentioned in final episode. It was the first serial murder cases happened. This too mentioned in episode 6 & 8(the first murder happened). So they're going back to stop it from happening as they already know who's the real killer.
@rere I think hae joon's dad has a lot of resentment towards his mother because she left him all alone with his father at a very young age although when he grown up he met his loved one and wanted to have a family with the owner of bongbong teahouse. But after all, his resentment and desires to kill is stronger than that I guess

I wish they were able to use the time machine more though. Makes you think and see your own parents in a different light.

If Mi Sook is the killer, the meeting could be her motive to cover her plagiarized book (which was actually written by FL's mom).

What if that young man travels from the past to the future to kill Soo Ae and Hae Joon (his son whom he didn't know would be born as that Hae Joon) that makes more sense
An Jun 13 2023 4:15 pm Why Soo Ae got killed after those many years? Why not earlier if the murderer was free from any suspicion. There's a possibility that the murderer traveled to the past too but he/she only observes everything from a far. But then he/she was able to come back to the future and kill Soo Ae. One possibility: I think it's Mi Sook. That explains why Soo Ae got scared when about to get murdered. She's abused for many years by her brother that makes sense if she has desire to hurt others. About Ha Jun's father, it's all just misunderstanding.
Happy98 Jun 13 2023 3:06 pm It's not over until it's really over. We still have 2 episodes left, and the writer still keep us on confuse. Hard to accept Yeon woo as the murder for so many reasons except he really had a psychotic behavior that we haven't known. YooSeob has relation with the victims so it makes sense, he also got close up shoot and suspicious lines, but as a good brother from miserable past, heroic action on KyungAe and enthusiastic activist until he got hurt, the writer really a mean person if he/she makes YooSeob as the murder. The homeroon teacher? Hmmm i don't think his role is crucial enough in the drama and also the murder seems to be short but he definitely tall, even though he looks pretty suspicious with those tired eyes every scenes. I hope the murder shows up in such an epic moment, cause i miss him so much :)

Can’t take off my mind the scene where he was destroying her book (the notes say that women who read are dangerous) and not to mention that when her mom died she seemed to recognize the culprit!! She doesn’t know the ML father!!! But in the other hand if the ML father is the culprit it does explain a few things like why his mom abandoned him and most importantly why his grandfather was in depression and he didn’t like his grandson!

I think Haejoon discovered something that make Yeon Woo urge to kill his own son. HaeJoon is righteous journalist, maybe He tried to report his father or revealed his father sins? Ah! I also read some article and also it often include in kdrama, psychopath is not care about their offspring, they just want to have child to continue their legacy as psycho.
This also explained why ChungA is decide to leave faster in the new timeline, while in past timeline ppl told She is runaway which many theories said it could be ChungA was killed by the father of the baby, resulting ppl never found her or her body.
But, it also confusing, the first timeline the substitute teacher was killed earlier than second timeline. But, Yeonwoo comeback in the same period in both timeline right?
P.s: dang I dont want to sympathize with Ko Mi Sook. But, looking at her crying in the latest episode. omg. I cant. She is human after all. But, I dont want to sympathize her. but, ahhhhhhhhhhh idk

ML's mother is just suspecting her boyfriend (FL's father) just because of the bong bong teahouse box and the red strings, but she's not sure and she hasn't proven it yet. I think, the reason why ML's father went to ML's house is that he already discovered the use of the car and after watching the news, he was curious to know who the real culprit was. He just ran away because he knew that everyone is suspecting him. The culprit was among those who visited FL's mother at the hospital. If ML's father visited, I'm sure FL will recognise him and mention to ML that he also visited. So I'm guessing it's the homeroom teacher....the motive, I still can't figure it out.

And yeah one of the clue was Youn Young's dream and the description in Min Sook's novel about the third suspect. Someone who lost his memory. Perhaps Hae Joon's father has disorder personality or something like that. He could not marrying Chung ah because got caught, but still has done the 'thing' with her in the day she told it was her last opened the Tea House. Based on his words, they met somehow. Chung Ah got pregnant and Hae Joon born in the next year.
The killer is least likely someone who comes from the future or who has not been showed to the viewers.

He had to see the past to know his son was going to be killed. Hae Joon's mother was one victim of the killer, and I don't think she left her child. His body was not found. I don't think we've met the killer yet during the series. What do you think?

In my estimation, this drama wins, 100% for one of the most intriguing, and incredible series so far in 2023. I become instantly involved, and like a good book, cannot 'put it down'. From my instant liking of the very first episode, I know that it is really something beyond special!
The clever twists of fate, involving time, and time travel, are brilliantly portrayed! As this story unfolds, I know I am going to binge watch this series, it's SoO good!

The killer and he have the same body type and when Soon Ae was killed she was surprised because the assassin are an improbable person; Yoo Seob was in a wheelchair and looked incapable of any type of crime.

So there are a lot of things messing up. First of all the killer is man.And the only person who saw him is ko mi sook. Secondly ko mi sook seems to know the culprit in person. It is high possibility that yoon hae joon's father is the real culprit because first of all when he saw the signature of the killer in yoon hae joon's house , he came to him instead of going to the police. Second is yoon young's dream about disappearing of yoon hae joon in the future. This is possible becoz if his dad is the culprit he would go to jail and wouldn't marry . But how the fuck he could kill his own son in the future...this is the only point for which i don't think his dad could be the culprit. But if we see that bum ryong had died the same way yoon hae joon will die in future. So it might possible that the culprit was going to kill a girl in the future and yoon hae joon came to save her and died instead of her coz from the very starting the culprit is killing women only. And i don't want to see a sad ending of it but i think this drama will have a sad ending...coz they tried to change the things in the past for which they have to pay with something and i think that would be their life. May be one of them or both will disappear in the future. But whatever it will be i can't wait to see it. And also when yoon young's mother died she was saying something to the killer before dying and it seems like she knew that person and was familiar with him. So the killer is a person who is known to the village people not the one who is not shown before. Also in the first episode after the death of lee soon ae it was shown that ko mi sook visited woojung ri for some purpose...but why ko mi sook don't even want to take the real culprit name , how did she know each and every detail of the murders which she wrote in her novel, and why she had gone to woo jung ri when soon ae died. This all showing that she is also with the culprit or she's the one helping that culprit or she's the one who has something to do with the culprit.

The man with glasses was not able to come out of the third stall for a long time (Bum Ryong). The man who had lost his memory lay down under the bridge, not realizing who he was (real culprit???)." Based on this text, the culprit is a man (which is confirmed in Ep 12 based on who Mi Sook's saw) and probably has split personality. Based on the clues given in the story, it could be the male lead's dad (since there should be a reason why his mother left him, his grandfather is not affectionate of him, and his father flying away to US). It's fishy to be honest. Plus, the female lead's dream may also be a clue since if the male lead's dad is the real culprit, then most likely the male lead will not be born in the future since the culprit will be locked in prison. However, I'd like to believe that it is someone that is not yet introduced or someone slightly mentioned in the drama but is just overlooked.

The first victim, the professor notice that koo mi sook homework wasn't done by her but by soon Ae. She oviously talk to his boyfriend about the professor then he killed her.
Soon Ae die at the end because she must know something as well. And if you think that time is a circle thats means hae joon's dad possibly recognise him from past and choose to kill him. Hae joon's mom is problably a victim of hae joon's dad too.
A woman who desire built a family with a guy suddenly abandonned her child and hae joon's dad flying away to USA. Something is fishy right here don't you think?
A secret relationship will explain why koo mi sook show up at the movie theater. and if you think about it that make sense. Koo mi sook is a psychopath because she was beaten by her brother. And hae joon's dad look like one. He is smart, lonely and he lives out of the town. And she writes about him in her novel but didn't get killed. Koo mi sook secret and weakness is her necklace. I think that's a gift from hae joon's dad.

Woah Jun 07 2023 2:46 am So after ep 12 i can say the dad is also 1 possible culprit but as usual it could be a red herring because to fill 16 episodes of an 8 episode drama writers have been throwing red herrings left right center and prcatically the drama is going in circles. The fact he mentions his dad n him weren't affectionate could mean a murderer but could also mean that writers are doing an obvious red herring, there could be another idiot in the village doing it. But lets hope at the end hae joon gets to live and not disappear.
I have a suggestion why don't hae joon and yoon young get married in 87 and settle down in seoul instead of going back to present and getting killed or stuff they can live happily away from the village in city center if they choose to give up going back in future.

Maybe he is a time traveler too...he most be, he is the one who innovatived it and min seok could know everything too..or at least has notes from her husband.

The first half of the series is exploring Baek Family. Its such a gem, watching fresh faces and talents such as Seo Ji Hye and Lee Won Jung. So did Jin Ki Joo, i know she is great actress but wow! This series show us her amazing talent.

Yoon young(female lead) traveled back in time just to see what changed her father ...she was amazed when she saw him first ..he was like a different man filled with life and with a shinning eyes..his old him is just the shadow of the man he became into.... . And this episode shows it all ... what a trauma he had to face (a near death interrogations) what he faced during his early life when he lost his both parents and now losing his beloved brother... They broke the man ..... She couldn't believe what he had to endure The actres eyes shows how much sympathy she feels for her dad ...facing unmatched unfairness...... Wow if they do another 2_3 episodes with thus quality they will reach the level of drama ""my mister "" which is for my the best drama of all time ...despite the slow first 2 episodes (which I honestly loved)

This drama actually deserves12 episodes but they made 16 and are now dragging and dragging , everhday a new killer comes out. Keep it 12 episodes and diaclose things by now or atleast something useful. I like the sbpw but slow pacing is too much.
Also did you guys also felt kyung jae sneaking out post midnights getting drunk roaming streets falling asleep on street to be carried home in morning was inviting a disaster. Like wouldnt an idiot like her be a prey to a predator.
