In the 1700's, Crown Prince Lee Sun (Yoo Seung-Ho) fights against Pyunsoo hwe. Pyunsoo hwe is an organization that has accumulated power and wealth through privatizing water all over Joseon. Crown Prince Lee Sun becomes a hope for the people who suffers. Ga-Eun is the woman Crown Prince Lee Sun loves and she helps grow as a ruler.

Park Min Dec 11 2023 4:10 pm I found the main cast to be quite dislikable. Heo Joon Ho was the only one who had a decent performance. Yoo Seung Ho was overexaggerating with every breath and Kim So Hyun was a plank of wood. Their characters were equally as bad and underdelivering. The most important plot device in the drama was the mask, however, although its introduction was okay, but how they handled it later on was disappointing and its conclusion and reveal made the whole journey worthless to care about the mask. At the beginning, I thought they would do something clever with the mask play but it turned out it was just some random element to kick-start the story and give the drama its title.

The king is the best character for me and i loved villains too..loved the love story..she doesn’t have to b the best to b the queen she just have to b the one whom prince loved and can overcome things for her..ga eun did her part so well no matter what people says..she saved prince,proved his identity and even proved the validity of the antidote.. And the crown prince really deserves to b the king not because he is son of previous kind but because he never left his people just to become the king.. He is emotional and i guess thats his strength.. One of the most satisfying historical drama i have ever watched.. ❤️

Crown Prince: a total simp who thinks with his dick and put it above the nation. Han Ga Eun: a doormat, gullible and pretty much a useless character in the entire series. Lee Sun: a slimy garbage. Waste of oxygen and space. Han Ga Eun and him deserve each other, tbh, perfect couple. Kim Hwa Geun: also a simp but she's the best character in the entire series. My heart breaks for her.

Okay to be precise the story is 9/10( without the too much romance) but I give it 7/10

Aurora Sep 02 2020 5:24 pm Acting of the characters are brilliant!!! I'm fell quite deep and fast during earlier episodes and got disappointed with the writing later on. Really, what got me to finish this is cos of YSH and his acting. He never fails me (up till now). It's a joy to see him act and sympathise with him. ? Last but not least, my favourite character (who seems to me the only properly written character) is Hwa Gun. Loved her sacrificial love, loyalty and everything.
yms Aug 28 2020 7:59 am great drama plot wise and acting, but the unnecessary romance had me stop watching it for a while.. really Gaeun character was good for nothing, the Crown Prince going after her and almost abandon his mission multiple times.. i had to cringe. Hwagun was the best character among the 4 leads imo, smart and strong. Just trully a teenage historical drama lol. rate 7.5/10

Because it's soooo loong, I'm not really into long episodes but I really recommend this!

Sorry, I’m not a Kim So Hyun fan, hence, i felt like her acting in this drama was lame. ? I just thought, it would have been better if it was portrayed by Kim Yoo Jung or Kim Hye Yoon. My husband, who was watching with me, felt the same. ?
Yoo Seung Ho and L played their characters perfectly - no doubt about it.
Anyway, I’m giving this drama 9/10... ?
Nuri Apr 12 2020 12:19 am Hi. Just finished watching this. It's already 2020 tho. It's been a long time since I wanted to watch this because two of my fav actors are the lead.... but female lead character was very disappointing despite kim soo hyun is my bias :(((
The storylibe was GREAT at first, i was like how did I never watch it but i just went downhill in the middle when the "saving your woman" plot take place. was very sick of it.... but at the end, i finished. And of course like all of you, watch is for HWA GUN till the end. almost cry when she also made appreareance in the last episode (i was already disappointed when she died :( ). Male lead character was good just get swayed or bit wastes due to the weak female lead character... sorry writer-nim....
Imagine if they make hwa gun character the female lead? dont it be more interesting to see the love from your enemy... and she's much braver and stronger. Ugh they just wasted such meaningful character!!!
anyway overall plot 6.5/10, but romance??? 3/10.

Ost are also good but I don't like the script very much, the writers did not exploit it all the characters. This is a historical movie worth watching!

At first, i watch the drama because of Kim Myung Soo(my ultimate crusshhhh) but moreover, i was fond by the flow of the drama (though i do not like historical dramas that much). The casts did their job well. Although the drama is so heavy and exhausting because the true king died over and over again, it's still great and because of that, i was rooting for more episodes that i couldn't stop. After all those sacrifices for the true king, it ended well and did justice to joeseon as well as their loveteam(seung ho and soo hyun). Though, it's just so sad that the second lead actors died. Over all, i would rate (9/10)! Hoping for more historical dramas like this. And P.S kkomul is so kyyyeeeopta!

Nana Mar 10 2019 5:43 am Damsel in distress theme for the main lead is too common..can at least any writer out there write a more strong & independent character for the main lead..i literally rolled my eyes whenever she was accused or caught or whatever and she was stupidly helpless. I personally like Hwa Gun's character more because she literally is out there helping and loving through action, not some sugar coated sweet words. I couldnt help but feeling frustrated because all along the way..it's all about saving Ga Eun from the 3rd episoode until the end..oh my god can't the lead do something else rather than being saved at all time? I i think 70% of the story is about saving ga eun from trouble..not saving his own country..wth. but i would say their actings are all splendid, albeit the drama being too love centered. Sigh

In the beginning i though hwagun just obsessed, but she sacrifice her life. Just for one hug!!!! So saddd... Yeahh i know ga eun drink that antidote to prove that's not poison, but she know that an antidote. So not count..

HAN Ga Eun. It become less interest to watch as they only focus on protecting/ saving Lady Han . all they say is Ga Eun ,Ga Eun,Ga Eun... they focusing on Ga eun tooooo long.. i mean not suits the drama tittle.. ruler master if the mask?? or ruler master of ga eun heart -.- .... im sorry I had to compare it with King Face drama characters where the 4 male & female lead and 2nd lead are stronger and really care about the people... (with exception of 2nd male lead who become greedy at the end) .. so back to this drama, it has good beginning but then toward half of the drama, its all about bring ga eun out from palace, making ga eun the queen, imprison ga eun, saving ga eun, kidnapping ga eun, saving ga eun again, fight for ga eun between to lee sun, gaining ga eun trust, cnvince ga eun, holding ga eun, comfort ga eun n blablabla.. so when they will focusing on people who suffering a LOT??? taking 5 years to plan on destroying pyunsoo group and become stronger only to be shaken by a woman?? thats why i said the tittle not suits the contain. SORRY FANS. im a fans of yeo seung ho and kim so hyun too but their characters weak.

But takes 29 episodes to get the mainpoint...tooo slow....i take most my time play with my phone during the show...and i still can catch up with the story...still on going and hope it has good ending..

Platha Jul 08 2018 12:28 am The chemistry between the ML-FL lead is what makes this drama worth watching. They spend most of the series apart but whenever they meet the sparks are off the roof! Especially impressed by how well KSH embodies the leadership qualities of her character. The way she jumps of the cliff to save the life of her lover is beyond heroic.

I love this drama at first because you know Myungsoo and Yoo seungho.. Their acting is sooo great but 1 thing I didn't like is Kim Soo Hyun's character. She is kinda typical female lead in every historical. like damsel in distress who needs a guy everytime . like that. You know it is 2017. The writer should make the female lead stronger and unique. ("Almost" all historical drama that I watch from 2008 is like her tho -_- ) I like Hwa goon's character the most. That is the kind of female lead character that I want. It is very unique. Hwagoon's "CHARACTER" should be the main lead. Yeah that's all.

JP Mar 31 2018 9:20 am At first, the 1st and 2nd episode was boring. I haven't finished the first 2 episodes in like a week because I'm so not into historical drama. But because of Yoo Seung-ho, I decided to watch it. But I was wrong. This drama will be added to my top list! It's worth watching. I even slept at 4am for 2 nights because I was really hooked on the scenes. Every episode is soooo good. But about the romance part of this series, I was a bit disappointed. I dont see the chemistry between The Crown Prince and Lady Ga Eun. I preferred Hwa Gun and the Crown Prince. Her love towards the Crown Prince is far more heroic than letting down the Prince for how many times. She's been there all the way. From the start until the Crown Prince almost regained the throne. But thanks to Seung-ho's acting skills, he and Dae Mok really proved that in every kdrama, although romance is expected but some of the lead characters can deliver an amazing drama that the viewers will love til the end. I'll give this drama a 9/10! Kudos to Seung-ho, the cast and the staff behind Ruler: Master of the Mask. T'was and amazing rollercoaster ride!
Ms.klawi Mar 14 2018 9:28 pm I both love Yoo Seung-Ho and Kim So-Hyun but for me the story would have been better if the real crown prince end up with Yoon So-Hee, i admire the kind of love she have for the him, she did an excellent job portraying her character, they look better together and a love story between them made more sense. But i guess the writers didn't want a typical "romeo and juliet" love story on this drama. Just saying ^^,
Zephy Mar 12 2018 8:50 pm Thanks to this Drama it got back my interest to watch Historical Drama again am going to grade it 7 of out 10, every episode was worth watching the phasing was a bit slow but it I never once got bored or skip any scenes this is definitely an underrated drama and deserve more credit.
For the casting I know Scary Grand Pa(Dae Mok) is the bad person but I really hated the character of Yi Sun and the Queen. I applaud L (Yi Sun) for his acting stood out the most. Also another most hated character was the Dude in Army Red (Jo Tae-Ho the henchman of Pyunsoo) the Actor Kim Young-Woong and Kim Won-Hae resembles to each other.
For the most memorable character that affected me most was Hwa-Goon Why did she have to die??? I really like her than Ga-Eun, her unconditional love for the Prince and Loyalty was overwhelming.
Another memorable character was Gon even he doesn't say anything his character made a huge impact on every scene he was on his action really speaks louder than words. I wish they made a scene that the Prince address him for his loyalty.
Although the Drama has a lot of strong points it also has flaws: -What happen to the Peddlers & Merchants that the Prince used to leave with?
-Did they inform The Admiral that the Prince is alive if so why was he wasn't at the celebration?
-What about Kim Woo-Jae (Hwa Gun's father) we all know Dae Mok took his own life. Did someone at least inform him about it???

I almost miss this one bcause all the bad comments. True, this is not six flying dragon, but the plot is truly remarkable. Why only 2 days and they fallin in love? She’s the first one who saw his true self and and help him, the one he can talk freely, and smart, and kind. Why hwa goon crazily love the crown prince? She’s the one who get anything she wants. And she wants him, being his master by gaining his trust. Thats why. Just watch this series if u love moon embracing the sun. They’re kinda similar.

They split up the episode so now I don't remember if I'm done with episode 14 or 28) and dropped it. The plot moved so slowly, there isn't much going on, very little suspense, female lead has such a tiny role this far into the drama and also she's not that related to the whole conflict that was going on in the story rather than being the love interest. The second female lead was way more interesting to me, not only because she directly relates to the main plot as the granddaughter of the antagonist, she also involves in a lot of things and is very stand out as a character. But honestly, I dropped it because it is not suspenseful enough and the plot is so slooow!

BTW not to mention second male lead actor is super handsome. Omg his side profile ?? and I love second female lead's bold and cool character. Probably the most useful second female lead ever in a Korean drama. Yoo Seung ho also very charming and talented actor.So Hyun is a very talented child actor although I don't like so Hyun's character here. Overall beautiful historical drama. And won best Korean Drama award along with Goblin in Korean drama awards.

I love all the cast in this drama and how they potray each other's character. But I'm so mad towards some viewers who said that so hyun's acting wasn't good enough and yet too boring to watch. Yea, I'm a little bit frustrated with the screenwriter about how they potray sohyun's character (ga eun) as the one who couldn't help her own self instead crying all day long over nothing. There's no doubt about Kim so hyun's acting. I've watched lots of drama she acted in and her acting is real good and stunning. Talk about ga sun's character, even though she doesn't help the crown prince 'that much' as hwa gun did, but her love towards her people and crown prince and nation makes her shine and compatible as a queen and i must say the ending of this drama is how it is supposed to be. Hwa gun's love towards the crown prince is selfish enough that it had killed ga eun's father and other people. The chemistry of sohyun and seungho is strong enough and I really love it. But after all, this drama is a must watch and im not putting any hates on anyone that's all.

Tho I must say the real issues I had was the romance,i have surely watched more trad dramas that you can feel the vibe of the romance,it was obvious YSH was really trying but truth be said, he was better at other scenes that weren't romance,i couldn't just feel anything from them. And the suspense was near 5% for me,i wonder why,its either I have gotten better in predicting dramas or it was just really that predictable. Anyway am a lover of trad k dramas,my best still being empress ki,moon embraces the sun and Scholar who walks the night,hopefully I come across more trad k drama as powerful better still more powerful then this. There is no boring scene, everything went smoothly and kept me on the edge.... The ending was perfect though we lost some characters along the way but it all made perfect sense.... scyoung Aug 07 2017 10:18 pm this drama surely made for kiddos. no need to think about interpretation inside the plot, no need to feel the character deeply, and easy to understand. i will recommend this drama only for teen kdrama beginner or anyone who rarely watch drama or movie, because i don't think kdrama sunbae-nim would like this kind of kdrama, its too light, not that neatly written, less deep, and less feel. but still it's a good kdrama to start with, before experiencing heavier plot of another kdrama.

I watched So Hee's drama before as Eun Dong, she's so lovely and pretty and what makes me suprised is that she could keeping up and stand out with her acting while she's always potraying a cute . We already seen So hyun's bold acting in many chances like school 2015/let's fight the ghost so i wasn't that suprised, It was good but i won't say it was GREAT enough.

Maybe because I feel kind jealous to Yoo Seung Ho (I'm Kim So Hyun fan) :v . But I don't feel their chemistry is as strong as Nam Ji Hyun and Seo In Guk in Shopping King Louis (which is really great drama). For me, even Park Bong Pal (Taechyeon) and Kim Hyun Ji (Kim So Hyun) in let's fight ghost had a better chemistry than this Ruler couple. Maybe I can't compare modern drama with this kinda kingdom drama, but I actually enjoy the main story line than love line. Anyway. I love the drama, but it takes too long for Crown Prince for taking the throne, it should be faster, so the last 4 episode wouldn't have been rushed. They should at least show that Joseon were better after CP Lee Sun took the throne. But the last scene were marriage ceremony. I gave 95/100 for the drama

The writing is not only fiction, but puts strangely modern liberal fantasies in the mouths of the poor actors, that do not match the time period at all. Although Yoo is lovely, as always, his character is an unlikely spineless whimpering puddle of goo. The elders in the drama managed to make the horrible dialogue believable, so cudos to them.

But both dramas were entertaining to the fullest with very good looking leads and second leads, good acting from all including the villians, beautiful scenes and all. Enough to make us wait impatiently for each episode as we sat glued to our seats. So, Ga Eun or Hwa Gunn? Both were good, I'd say. Not all characters are supposed to strong, brave and sacrificing. Otherwise that would be boring. Hwa Gunn was strong willed, decisive and determined, understandably, as she was brought up in her villian grandfather's midst. Ga Eun was soft, genteel but had strong loyalty and principles, just like her father and had empathy for the common folk. Apparently, Lee Sun preferred a soft woman. Some men do.. There was nothing wrong with Ga Eun or Kim So Hyun's acting, as that was the role she was given. I hate Daemok tremendously, but that's because Heo's acting was so superb. With the happy ending they gave, i really have no complaints as long as they keep the historical dramas coming..

I like this drama because triangle love story in this drama is not silly. Both Ga Eun and Hwa gun has strong character and they both sincerely love the CP and without doubt sacrifice themself for CP. From the start CP never give false hope to Hwa goon and Hwa goon should knows her position which impossible for her to be CP's woman. Although I prefer the character of hwa goon more (subjectively) but I don't mind Ga eun that is choosen by CP. Because Ga Eun is a great woman too

commentary in parts Jul 15 2017 11:44 pm First thoughts: my early synopsis was pretty spot on... This is a historically SET drama that has a very modern look, feel, and importantly story to tell... I know younger viewers were key to ratings being double digits thanks to the amazing young talents they cast (ALL of them given significance and allowed to shine), but the story is much more mature than the Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (aka Love in the Moonlight) sorts of stories... Because it isn't at all fluffy cutesy material and characters were very complex and not at all perfect, any of them, but every single one developed and grew with the story... Well, it isn't really made to appeal to the 12-15 year olds who are drawn to the actors in it unless they are exceptionally mature, thoughtful, Crime And Punishment reading kinds of kids volunteering and such in their spare time, kids not stuck to gadgets all day. It has big moral quandaries and no pure simple bad guys-the monster was made by negligence of those in power and in gaining his own power did the same, in turn, to the powerless which proved his great cause truly unworthy... That said, parents should watch with if their kids will be exposed and use it to talk about how these issues are CURRENT affairs, clean water still unavailable to millions... (It deemed the full comment way too long but I feel like rambling today!)

I' ve been watch many historical drama since 2003 until know and i can say that this drama give a new tone in this genre. I loved the rollercoaster sensation of it, the instensity of atmospher that they brough and the most important was the lesson that we can got from all the characters it so inspiring. Not like a few sageuk drama which is just focus with romance, this drama give more of this. Well, i hope i will find the uniqe historical drama like this and i am gonna miss this show.

I'm not really interested in Kdrama like I used to be but because of the cast and interesting storyline I decided to sit through this one. I enjoyed the overall experience but I feel dumber and a bit annoyed after watching it. Only a bit because it was my choice to continue until the end, even though it turned stupid in the very early episodes (episode 4 to be exact).
So what's wrong with it?
Overly-dramatic and sad, it's like there's always something bad going on in every scene. L's acting is cringey and his character along with Hwa Gun could've been so much better and empowered, but they were unnecessarily wasted. Too much 'sacrifice' going on, how little self-respect does someone have to have in order to obsess over unrequited love to the point of death? Literally. Lots of misunderstandings between the characters that could be solved in like 1 episode but made everything drag on until the end. Do these people have communication skills? Unrealistic events that you either have to suspend disbelief to continue watching (I did this but it still bothered me) or totally drop the drama because the writers assumed the viewers have an IQ of a squirrel (I also did this, as in dropped the drama, after episode 4 only to pick it up again). Seriously, how did the prince and Ga Eun fall in love so quickly anyway? Their relationship goes from like 5 to 80 real quick. They barely knew each other.
There was never a boring moment in the drama, I'll give it that, but that was due to the over dramatization of everything, with all the back-and-forth, unrealistic events that caused the whole mission to last so long, sword fighting, OST playing in the background, crying (so.much.crying), etc. etc.
I've named many of the cons. The pros? Well, like I said, never a boring moment (besides some of the romantic ones I had to skip because they mainly consist of staring contests with big watery eyes), had lots of potential, some of the acting was great (lead actors, other older actors... loved the guy who played Dae Mok), certain scenes were totally on point (crown prince and dad in the rain, crown prince meeting with Dae Mok for the first time), and the aesthetics and the outfits were great, same with the set.
L could've been an awesome and charismatic fake king and his storyline could've been much more than just "I love agassi" (ugggghhh), Hwa Gun needed a huge dose of self-esteem (same problem as L basically--they both would've benefited from that and developed into stronger characters), Ga Eun could've been more interesting, Gon could've been fleshed out by the end and had more interaction with Hwa Gun beyond "I'll follow you orders like a dog", there didn't need to be so many dumb deaths, so overall... I wouldn't recommend this.

Remember who is the female main lead in here.. And this is not CITT drama version 2.. If you wanna Hwa Goon with Crown Prince you can do it with fanfiction..

I must say that Yoon So-Hee, (Hwa-Goon), did an outstanding role play with her character that she stole the show, standing ovation to her, L (Lee Seon, fake King) & Mr. Heo Jun-Ho (Dae Mok) crime don't pay the but the role playing was amazing.

P.S Have similiar thought with @daemokispig about GE antidote scene but as i rewatch , that would be King's option to summon QD to tested the antidote, but King's hesitated as their official didnt trust him and let them have their way . GE's turn was her spontan reaction, she herself had suspicion with HG's dad as she keep asking him earlier but she still jump anyway and i cant help but give her credit point to her queen material
With this ending i am loving every female character in this drama Queen,MaeChang,KkoMul,Mom and of course our female leads HG as powerful woman with strong action and GE as a queen in her every graceful way

I don't want they left me kkkkkkkk.lol hope they meet again in next project, and thats must be romcom and modern drama :)

But nonetheless it has a really decent and solid plot, so it's definitely worth watching! Thumbs up to all the actors and actresses, ESP HWAGUN! Hwagun you are the best!!!

The writer was trying to portray a "King for the People" not a realistic one. The story and character progression is just right even though the story does get slow but every character here has their pros and cons and little nuances to them that make them unique. It would be fking boring if the King was "realistic". We've already seen realistic ones in history books.

The minority says it's boring and unrealistic, but judging from how the plots were sketched and how the ending was fully wrapped, "Ruler: Master of the Mask" is indeed one of the best K-Dramas I've watched so far. Not only it has taught us the values of friendship and family, but it has also showcased the King's compassion, humility despite being the King of the nation, and his genuine love for his subjects and his people. Couldn't say more about how I really felt when watching the finale, I will surely miss this drama and hoping to see a sequel of this. <3

But now, though, I'm frustrated that they dragged out the misunderstanding this long. I was hoping that we wouldn't have to deal with that K-drama trope and that everything would have been cleared early on in the series. It's frustrating that many of their issues right now were caused by that misunderstanding: Ga Eun and CP's relationship falling apart, Lee Sun feeling abandoned and despised (Ga Eun would have been his support had she not been hating on the wrong person for most of the series), the Queen Dowager being able to stab CP in the back... the list goes on!
When a single misunderstanding causes many of the issues in a drama, it becomes frustrating. It's like the writers couldn't think of a better way to keep the audience at the edge of their seats. I was hoping they were going to raise the real conflict after the misunderstanding was cleared up. I was gravely disappointed.
So far, only Hwa Gun's family conflict is the only one that isn't so frustrating. It was a developing conflict that helped the characters involved grow. Why couldn't our three main characters have a similar issue? The direction for the main characters falls short. I had such high expectations of this drama.

Hwa Gun was interesting and brave but she loved someone who simply didnt love her back and we cant vlame Ga Eun for that. And for the ones saying Ga Eun is a 'dumb' and ' boring', just look at her story. Hes fathet died caused by the man that she loved. And that man covered by her for so long. She finally know the truth when that man almost die in front of her. she's just as interesting characters as alk the other characters. hwa Gun was brave while Ga Eun was curious. hwa Gun has everything except prince' love meanwhile Ga Eun lost evething but she has puriest love from the Prince. Both of characters are wonderful and bring certain characteristics to this play/drama that we should appreciate no debate about.
And for the cast, they do a great job to potraying their characters as well. And again we should give upplaus for them not give cruel comment everywhere.

Hwa Gun is strong and she sacrificed everything for the CP to the detriment of her family. She supported him knowing fully who CP was and his desire for revenge against her family. With the power and connections she made for herself, she was so good at helping CP. Hwa Gun is strong, cunning, smart, but completely devoted to CP. Totally queen material!
Meanwhile, Ga Eun has been mindlessly helping out CP's very enemy. The drama tried to portray her as intelligent but let's admit, compared to Hwa Gun, she definitely falls short. And let's admit, there's a severe lack of communication between CP and Ga Eun. CP couldn't even admit to Ga Eun his real identity. What kind of relationship is built on deceit?
I was hoping that this would turn out like some dramas where the female lead is switched midway. I'm so sad by what happened to Hwa Gun's character I might not even finish the rest of the series.

I dont blame their love, it always about heart and sometime love is not fair enough. But overall, this drama is excellent, so inspiring. So sad, this story will be ending. As for Kim So Hyun, I don't know if it's the character or what but she doesn't really shining here. A lil bit dissapointed bcoz I love her acting and expect so much from her :( but after all the story is quite good. Hwa gun and Lee Sun also have great acting skill. Can't wait for the ending episodes!!!

As for Yoon So Hee and L, they have captured the hearts of the people as well.
For those who are bashing So Hyunnie's character, So Hyun has shown us her best and why don't we just try to appreciate their efforts and hard work. Yes, they are well-known actors but doesn't mean that they are perfect. They are still learning and they have shown us all their best and we must be appreciative in that aspect.
As for her character as Ga Eun, yes, she may appear weak to some people BUT, she loves the people all her heart that even if she gets into dangerous situations, she still stands strong against the enemy. She is the reason why Crown Prince is fighting hard against the Pyunsoo Hwe and is determined to win and gain back his throne. She is a silent fighter with no bodyguards. She may appear weak on the outside but she is strong on the inside. She is very smart and thinks first before she acts. Because she is the weakness of Crown Prince, she is also his source of strength. She indeed deserves the title of a QUEEN. Not only because she is the lover of CP, but because she is also a daughter from a noble family.

It is quite true that the characters kind of lacked logic and were so governed by their emotions...unlike other historical dramas in the past. Amidst this flaw though it is a good show but not the best there is. I will look forward to other productions with Hwa Gun in it because her performance in this drama is superb. Myungsoo also did so well, I'm proud of him.

Although her motive doing it caused of her love for CP, but what she attack to her grandpa is the vital matter, she took "the gun" of pyunsoo. That poppy field is the root of whole problem in this story. And she finished it. She did it!!!
I'll never forget the scene when she standing looking at poppy flower field before/after she burnt it. Strong aura, the most beautiful heroine that I've ever seen in saeguk drama !!!

I'm rooting for the real crown prince and Ga Eun's love and also think the current fake prince needs to die he's such a coward and he doesn't know when to let go!!! We should judge this based on the drama itself and separate the actress from her character. I think all Ga Eun shippers are bias because of So hyun. They love So hyun and you know what I do too. And I start this drama because of seung ho and so hyun too. But, I am also a big fan of the drama itself. And honestly the way the drama going, Hwa goon is the best partner for the king. I think the best solution would be So hyun to act as hwa goon. They should give So hyun Hwa goon character and so hee Ga Eun character... Would you complain then cause all this while you say that Ga eun get less screen time than Hwa goon right?

A king should not marry a traitor daughter. The traitors can even be punished 3 offspring, right? Seja force Hwa gun to be the queen is impossible. Why? Because CP does not love her, it is not impossible to force him against the law to make Hwa gun the queen. Not putting her to death is possible, but making her a queen, sounds absurd.
And one more point, DM is not being tricked, but he's a real traitor. The real traitor. He was completely guilty.

jestine29 Jul 01 2017 1:30 am i find that most of the comments here do not like Ga Eun with the Crown Prince because she has less sacifices compared with Hwa Goon..well the CP in the first place wasn't in love with Hwa Goon and that will never change even though she has done so many things for him and if she loves him she wouldn't ask anything in return because that is what Love is. if Prince Lee Sun chooses Ga Eun its because he loves her without any hesitations or any doubta or any measure. this is not about who contributed more duh!

Ga Eun is too much of weak character, well yes she saved the Crown Prince once, but I prefer a stronger charactee like Hwa Gun. She saved the Crown Prince and helped him so many times. A great team, aren't they? She may be a little bit evil but you know, we haven't seen all the sides of her. I can't stop picturing the Crown Prince as the King and Hwa Gun as the Queen. She's only care to CP and doesn't care about other people. I think she's bad person, use Gon feeling toward her for doing whatever she want. Story going to be right that she doesn't get love from CP.
And for Ga-Eun. She's kind and warm person. She always cry because she can't hold it. She's not weak person, if so she has been die in 5 years. She's lead the villagers and build market, she even jump to the sea for saving CP. Because of her kind and warm heart, she get love from CP. Loving and carrying other people is perfect to be his Queen like CP who care to his citizen. She's not stupid, the situation forced her not knowing anything. Why she's always causes trouble for CP?, of course it's because she's the one who loved by CP.
Too powerful is not always good. Glad the drama will end in 2 weeks, but sad can't see So Hyun in a week again. Waiting for her next project.

Instead of being a help to Crown Prince, she became such a burden to him. While the Crown prince still sacrifices so much for her. She loves the CP with all her heart and sacrificed her family and Pyunsoo Group in the processs. And yet she does not expect anything in return. Such a tragic and beautifully-written character.

Its start with boring scene in ep 1 and 2 , but start interesting in next episode. i love Ga Eun in the first episode, how she is strong yet so innocent and weak inside, and I think Hwa geun will be bad women.
But i'm wrong, Hwa geun character is dominant bcoz her power than Ga eun, the onlh thing I proud of ga eun just when she made village for villagers, her ambition coz his father died are to strong so it can destroy her.
I start annoy her character in the last episode and start pity to hwa geun, but I still want her to become queen with CP.
I still believe that she isnt that weak and I believe inside her heartshe still believe that cp is alive ( I'm not wathcing ep 31 32 yet)
So better than we ague here, just watch till the last episode I think.

I know so many debate about female lead cause a lot of fans of KSY and they want the role of KSY like what in promotion and be baddass girl. but, it like what you say, the writer didnt Lie them, the writer put GE character as a person who can help CP become someone better and wise. TBH, overall i very interst this drama and put it be one of my favorite saeguk drama.

What can you do if bunch of troops or ninjas come to you and you don't have anything but small knife? She is innocent. And c'mon. Hwa Gun looks great and strong because she has sword. She did a lot because she has power. And she didn't actually gain it. She got it because of his grandfather is Pyunsoo leader (or owner). Hmm.. She doesn't do everything alone. She has Gon. But Ga Eun did it by herself. She became the pioneer back then when people were tortured and forced to go. She made her own village. She is the one who save CP from drowning without hesitated. Wondering if Hwa Gun would do the same thing but to ask Gon to jump to save CP. Hwa Gun looks stronger because of her power and position in Pyunsoo. She knows tricks and politics. But Ga Eun is innocent and she doesn't have anything. She is just her. She looks weak because she cries a lot of times. But I don't think so. I believe she became one of the most important character in few last episodes.

Meanwhile I think that the only way the Crown Prince will be able to prove he is indeed the Crown Prince will be the writing on his back, literally! I also think that the letter that the Crown Princes later mother left in his green house (which has yet to be found by Ga-Eun) will help reveal this truth.
This drama sure is keeping me guessing, thus it is a must watch for me. Especially since I can't seem to see the next twist clearly.

As for me, i am really enjoying watching this drama not because of L which the first reason why I watched the drama but because of the story itself. Most probably when i read or watch drama, i can already tell or guess what gonna happen next or what would be the ending but this drama is different. Every time i concluded what will happen next, i always end up being disappointed because i guess it wrong and that really caught my entire attention and me ended up being attached with the drama.
As of L, well i think I'm the only person who really love him in the drama. He just proved to me that he is not just a pretty face but a talented man. Yah you may hate him as Lee Sun the Fake King but as L of Infinite he really improved a lot. He really proved to us that he's not just an idol but also an actor. Keep it up L, i will forever support you.

I was so sad because of the last episodes... the plot could've been better. I mean it wasn't necessary for the fake king to turn back on his friend. Also, I emphatize with the real Seja, that's exactly how my "friends" turned their back on me not so long time ago... The feelings... ah...even his loved one (*crying). And Ga eun annoyes me, it's like somebody rubbed all her memories and she forgot everything Chun soo did for her... And I have a bad feeling towards Hwa goon( I think she will sacrifice herself ).
But, what's funny about this drama is that I recently watched "I am the king"(2012) starring Joo Ji-hoon and I realized it has some similarities with our drama: -the real crown prince goes outside the palace and is replaced with a fake one that looks identical with him(unfortunately we don't have a mask here) -the fake crown prince grew up with an aggashi that he loves -an evil old man wants the fake crown prince to be king and his marrionette -and surprise! Our little Ga Eun is there 'o' -the fake and the real join forces and beat "Dae mok" (that's how I would like our drama to end) And I loved the happy ending. So from now on I will hope that our drama will be similar to this 'til the (happiest) end. Fighting!

She had eveything until the CP's reckless act. How is it a negative against Hwa Gun because she is aware of everything? Yes she has eveything but so did Ga Eun and the CP. I am pretty sure Hwa Gun's family will have their downfall. She will lose everything. I just hope she gets a happy ending working as a merchant. She seems to be very good at it. RMOTM fan Jun 25 2017 1:05 pm I don't understand why some ppl drops this drama but for me at least the plot is enjoying and comparing to other dramas, it has less romantic scenes but could blend with the core plot well. Also many cannot guess what will happen in the next episodes which makes it more fun. The leads are also wonderful which keeps drama more attractive.
As for Ga Eun character, I don't understand why ppl hate her a lot. Although, up to now, she hasn't done great help to Crown Prince comparing to Hwa Gun. But that's understandable if you look without bias mind. You can't compare her to Hwa Gun because 1) She lose everything even her father. she started from zero while hwa gun has everything (except love from crown price). 2) Everyone hide truth from her even CP. That's why she's in danger and know nothing while HG know everything because she's Dae Mok's gd. It's not that she's stupid like you said. Pls think if w/o Gon, unknown truth and being DM's gd, do you think HG will be able to help CP like she did till now????
TBH, If you remember the first time she met with CP, She was the one who put CP in danger at first. So to say, it's her that cause all troubles to all main characters from the start. Though I accept that HG love CP a lot (even at first seems like obsession), I never ship them due to the choice she started at the beginning. Anyway, I rather wish her a good ending but not with CP.

On the other hand, I am beginning to hate Han Ga-Eun (Kim So-Hyun) for her stupidity in believing the make believe story of the fake king Lee Sun (L) whom, because of his obsession with Ga-Eun, leads to this fake king betraying the Crown Prince to Dae Mok. If only, I could wish that the Crown Prince will just end up with Hwa-Goon instead...

He did not hesitate to bring him into the Into the trap just to get rid of him and get the "toy" he wanted so ... and to assume a power that he does not even have the ability to. A really masterfully portrayed character who always finds a guilty person responsible for his misery ... So it's ridiculous that many people were angry at Kim Hwa-Goon for what he was supposed to do, but which undoubtedly proved a much better character than this fake king , In comments total harmless and cool (maybe because of fan club actor L (Kim Myung-Soo):) ...... which I personally do not like - it works ironic, rudely and mindlessly...

And by the way, you overlook the fact that between them there is a loving relationship from the beginning as they met. That the character of Lee Sun (a false prince) is shown in the dark, when he strangely seeks to gain the favor of Han Ga-Eun even at the cost of betrayal and the spread of lies to Crown Prince Lee Sun, who did not force him into the role of a fake prince - Lee Sun himself offered this to the king, and he did not make any noisy motives, just wanted to get better ... :). The story is all the more interesting, I hope it will continue ...

For me,its Ga Eun. No, its not because she is the main lead but because I have connected to her more. Her character grew as the time goes by and even became complex to the point where I just wanted to slap her back to reality. But that did not made me hate her instead it made me understood her character more. She believes in justice,harmony and love. Her character also potrays that even the purest of heart can sometimes be clouded by darkness. She was so innocent that she was easily used by the Queen and too easily trustful that he believed the fake King's lies but thats where the beauty of of her growing up comes along. After she realizes how dumb she was, yes she was, she will grow as a strong person who can be a great support to Lee Sun and become a loving Queen Mother to her people. Also how she conveyed her feelings mostly touched my heart. Whenever she would cry, it made me cry amost as if I could feel her pain too. When she smiled at Lee Sun, you can see the genuine love she has for him. She reminds me of how a baby chick grows up to become a strong hen who is ready to fly.
I admit, she clearly stepped on the line of annoyance but i think it could be justified. Tell me, if you're an innocent girl alone bacuse your father died at the hand of authority and learned to live in her own and even begun helping a group of people make a living and you' re still inlove with your first love and then suddenly someone offers you to give you the answer why you have to grow up alone and live on your own. Basically, Ga Eun grew up thinking why she had to suffer like this, why she had to grow up with no family thats why I can understand her thirst for revenge. I would do the same if someone hurt my mother. But what annoyed people is how gullible she was. Despite desiring revenge she still remained as an innocent and kind girl, the kind of girl her father brought her up to be. Ga Eun stayed as the 17 year old in her heart but there were parts of her that had to grow up like become someone independent. She is that kind of girl because she accepts Lee Sun immediately after she discovers his identity because Lee Sun is a part of her 17 year old self.
Maybe because Kim So Hyun is an amazing actress,right it could be also.

Well,everyone can be disappointed but not me,not entirely. There are just a few things I'm concerned. It said that Ga Eun wpuld help Lee Sun to grow as a ruler but so far she just keeps messing around because of her thirst for revenge, making the whole 8 episodes or more just about her and not about Lee Sun's fight against Pyun Soo Group. And also another thing, I'm concerned is the poor character development of the fake King. He was supposed to be the poor but intelligent person who wanted to be more than a slave but nothing seems to change in him, he's still a slave but now by Dae Mok and not the society. Poor boy because of his obsessiveness towards Ga Eun his judgement was totally clouded that he became selfish. And also before i forgot it seems like Hwa Gun keeps getting less air time and sometimes i forget she is on the show. She's a great actress but somehow she doesnt have enough air time to completely develop her character more perhaos because she loves Lee Sun more than Ga Eun.
Anyways the main plot is still krystal clear so I will keep on watching especially now that Lee Sun will attend the initiation and drink the poison. What makes it exciting is that he is has resistance to any kind of poison as mentioned in the earlier episodes when he was just a baby and got poisoned by the queen. Most likely Lee Sun will use this as an advantage to fool the Pyun Soo group and act like he needs them to supply him his monthly medicine just like the fake king.
And also it was a bit predictable to me that the antidote would kill the servant because she was not poisoned. Stupid fake king, well anyways we cant blame him because his bodyguard is all along a person of Dae Mok. The bodyguard was totally unexpected.
I think Ga Eun will get her wits together after she sees the truth that Pyun Soo is the real culprit behind her father's injusticed death.
So far, my favorite character is Lee Sun though sometimes he is a bit dumb and indecisive despite learning how to become a ruler for five years outside the palace and how easily his feelings get swayed by everything especially regarding Ga Eun. But overall, his the kind of ruler that will wisely lead his people to happiness and contentment.

Their characters have chemistry but the problem is that their love story is hard to believe or to relate because is a first sight one, making that cliché. I saw many siding with second female lead, I understand she is interesting character but I don't feel Ga Eun is a bad character as many says. At least for me... because I only have cried with Ga Eun in this story, specially when her father died. She was the only character that gave me those emotions. Is true that main lead also has chemistry with second female lead, but he has also with first female lead.

And her chemistry with cheonha is no joke! her role as granddaughter of dae mok and daepyunsoo stole my heart, her character suffers a lot and she's still able to loyal to the cheonha that doesn't even know that hwagoon had love him since the first time their meet, i know everyone would say it was obsessed love, but the twist is absolutely daebak since hwagoon has to choose to protect pyunsoo-hwe or help the CP. I think she deserves better guys

Tbh the story is good but it reminds me a lot of joeson Gunam, I know it's not exact ly similar but lot of évents in the story are so I don't find it original . For now I Will keep on watching this drama cause it's Nice but definitely not one or my favorite honnestly

Manliness and innocence combined, he projected them superbly on screen. His chemistry with Kim So Hyun is heart fluttering. It makes one fall in love in its purest sense. Kim Myung Soo is also great here. With his talents, I hope someday he will be given a lead role in a drama or a movie. Indeed, this drama is blessed with young actors that could act so very well side by side with their veteran counterparts.

I've watched different dramas since 2016 and nothing really moved me like this. Great concept, great script, great cast and great directing. I really love everything in this drama. How I wait for this time. Focusing more on the issue on hand rather than romance, that makes a good story.

MR Jun 07 2017 10:18 am I really love this drama the last time I was hook in sageuk was years ago it's Queen Seondeok, surprise Yoo Seungho was also a character there as Prince Chuchu. Even before he has a superb acting ability for me he is not just a typical actor he is a character Artist... I also adore Kim So Hyun I hope her character will grow more because I watch her in Goblin and her character there made a mark on me (especially the one where she was dying looking at the man she loves). I really ship Crown Prince Lee Sun/Chun Soo x Ga Eun they're chemistry is unbelievable that even in real life I wish they are real couple.. The other characters are also interesting like Hwa Goon she can be so good to the one she loves and very vicious to others also I can feel her pain while she is pining for Crown Prince.. L acting is also worth watching he became so good in it. There are so many characters in here that I love even Daemok . Ruler fighting.. Give us more roller coaster episodes... PS: Wish the ending will give me sleepless nights. I want an ending that I can remember even in years to come. ??

Curious and Curiouser Jun 04 2017 1:26 pm I was excited because I love the entire cast! And was excited to watch a show with two of my favorites, Yoo Seong Ho and Kim So Hyun. I was really disappointed with the disgusting, glorified rape show they previously did where she plays the younger version of his interest, which makes their reunion a little weird. I don't feel the chemistry, I'm going curious if it's because she's so much younger. I ship the Crown Prince with Hwa Goon but I know they won't end up together. Her love for him is pure. She's going against her own family to keep him alive! That's so admirable. I just hope her character doesn't get petty. I feel bad for L's character, he's had a hard life! I hope Kim So Hyun's character finds him a cure or medicine. So after he's turned down by her character, he can at least live peacefully with his family! I have a feeling someone is going to die. One or maybe two of leads except the crown prince. Perhaps both of the second leads. Hwa Goon is at great risk for betraying her family. Kim So Hyun's character is at great risk because they can use her life to control both the crown prince and L's character. Plus Lee Sun is being really greedy at least the Crown Prince tried to push her away to protect her. Lee Sun put a target on her head, so she's being used by the Queen and Do Mok has his eye on her. I'm curious to see how this will end. It's been very unpredictable! A little over emotional.. but exciting, none the less.

appledeban May 29 2017 10:15 pm Noi cannot say anything more but this saeguk kdrama is very captivating and worth watching! The actors are amazing at portraying their characters. I'd also like to give a double thumbs up to the main leads, Yoo Seung Ho & Kim So Hyun. No wonder they are very popular! After seeing KSY slaying her character in Goblin as Kim Shin's sister, the Queen Kim Sun,, I knew that she'd be perfect for this. Also, what a performance coming from L or will mostly be known in the future as the actor, Kim Myung Soo! Such a brilliant idol-turned-actor. Good job to Yoon So Hee as well.
Anyway, this drama is seriously a top knotch. Ratings may not be high for now but it is definitely a must watch because of its new tone. Very different from other saeguk dramas and it just draws your attention and keeps you wanting to watch some more! I personally think that Kim So Hyun and Yoo Seung Ho are both good for each other but I also have this feeling that L also looks good with our princess KSY. She is just too beautiful that she looks perfect with any actors.
With this drama still being aired, I'd give the first 12 episodes an 11/10 for having me go at the edge of my seat every time.

Hwa Goon's love is so selfish and possessive, just look at her eyes when she saw her love and Ga Eun together! She is not a completely bad girl but she doesn't realize that what Dae Mok and her family have done to the country is wrong! About Ga Eun, she totally loves the Crown Prince and will fight for the people, just like the Prince! That's why they should be together!

I think it will break my heart knowing that Ga Eun will never love him back. But overall, the drama is so interesting. Everything is good and I really hope it will reach more than 20%. Still a GaEunxCPLeeSun shipper here :) I need more of their scenes. I can't forget their horse-riding scene ♥.♥ And the writer should let them end up together. No matter how others like the CP to be with Hwa Gun, the main leads should end up together because more people are expecting it. So please don't disappoint us :)

And for the peasant Lee sun, I feel so sorry for him. I hope he will not really turn into one of Dae Mok's people. I didn't how this drama really absorbed me, i don't even realize the time flies by because every scene was so epic that keeps me on the edge, Hwarang has the same story about hidden the crown prince in order to make him safe, but not legit as this one, i couldn't predict what will happen for the next episode and how the crown prince can substitute his strategy to turn down their enemies, because Dae Mok's kingdom so powerfull and intelligence.. I love magnetic conversation between crown prince and dae mok, so intense and yet captivated.. Sadly i'm watching it when it just airing 4 episodes (8 episodes) and must be tortured of waiting..

aminaxq May 19 2017 6:40 pm This drama just came out but I'M ALREADY IN LOVE. It is beyond amazing in so many ways, from the characters to the plot. I'm sooooo excited to see what happens next. It really hits you in the feels during certain scenes and you get a lot of mixed emotions. This drama is beautiful and the choice for the cast was definitely the right one. The acting done by them is phenomenal and the cast members are all so beautiful, especially Yoo Seung Ho? (the main character) YOU MUST WATCH THIS!! 10/10!!! :D

truly May 19 2017 5:48 am Don't even compare Bogum with Yoo Seung Ho.Yoo Seung Ho is a talented actor since childhood.I don't know about Bogum's other dramas,but tbh his moon light character is a so easier than Ruler's second lead actor.L is doing very impressive acting as a idol actor.Did you see that 7,8,th episode?Very happy to see ratings growth of Ruler Fighting.7,8 epi Total credits to L.In social media and among his fans going viral that scene.But amazingly it came as very touching & emotional scene thanks to his talent.Kim So Hyun & Yoo Seung Ho also very impressive.And Dae Mok actor is 100% talented one no doubts.+I also love Bogum not because his acting but he has a catchy personality.You can understand if you watch his reality program,"2 Days & 1 Night".
angela darus May 19 2017 5:29 am i love this drama,all drama alter true facts for dramatic purposes even moonlight didn't stay true to its source.Plus people did lead coups in jeoson era and kill or overthrow king for another loyal they prefer or prince .i would choose yo seung ho over any other actor for this specific character all day every day.....no actor can repeat another actor's brilliant performance even if they are that good ,thats why no one can act like gong yoo and grimleaper in globin or replace in DOTS or kim soo hyun in MLFAS or nagoomin in chief kim....nxt week pls come faster

leo marcus May 19 2017 3:31 am KY u cant compare the 2 drama (story wise or performance wise) they are like oil and water....this drama is intense and very politic and so far the cast and yoo seung ho are amazing pulling off the emotion that are required,....being a prince is not just glits and gramour....also bo gum's character had no real tragedy and the drama was a teen/coming of age romance with rom com...totally different stories and performances

Is the Crown Prince gonna b e king in e next episode as since e king is dead?Thats what keeping me watching. I still prefer Bogum as e crown prince. YSH doesnt have that aura of a crown prince :p

I started to watch this drama without notice and knowing nothing about it out of the blue this past tuesday...And Ime impressed with the story and acting... The last highly anticipated historical dramas has been a flop (Scarlet heart,Hwarang) for obvious reasons (inconsistensies in the stories,acting etc.) but this one is super good,interesting and got a lot os suspense.

That is highly unusual for me so basically that means that series is pretty interesting. It really is. But still I wouldn't say it is very good. Too many points which are not realistic or poorly executed (I am someone who deeply cares with that). However the characters (actors) save it! Especially Yoon Son-hee and Heo Jun-ho, but also the others have quite some charm. So I'll definitely continue to watch soon ;)

So, from this fact alone it can be proven that this is a fictitious drama. Lee Sun maybe is a popular name given to Crown princes'on Saeguk dramas because even Kim Soo Hyun's name in The Moon Embracing The Sun was Crown Prince Lee Sun.

I keep wanting more & more. Plus, the thrills makes me even needing more. Sorry though but I dont quite like the second lead. A+ May 11 2017 12:12 am I loveee the premiere episode!!! There was no dull moment at all! It was so funny how he wreaked havoc and chaos at the marketplace with his simple remarks regarding the water supply!
I can see why other people compare it to Moonlight due to the casting and some backdrop, but this leans towards melodrama storytelling than youthful romance sageuk, which was Moonlight. I very much appreciate the fast paced storytelling and how they give due importance to building up the story, something that Moonlight kind of took for granted, especially with their extremely long, yet emotional and powerful shots. As a fan of both shows, I say that it is alright to compare and contrast them, but at the end of the day, Ruler and Moonlight each have their own strengths, quirks and charm. I personally love both, so no matter what, I will enjoy this great show!!! Hopefully, everyone also enjoys it! Go Ruler!!! Advance thank you and congratulations to the whole cast and crew!!!

Summer05 May 10 2017 11:15 pm people, let's not compare this drama to other dramas (especially to Love in the Moonlight) Both are great shows with great actors (cause well, Crown Prince Lee Young (Park Bo-gum<3) is one of the most amazing crown prince in kdrama I've ever seen:)). I also love Yoo Seung Ho <3 and Kim So Hyun cause I've already seen them in other shows before. So why not just enjoy the show? I'm sure they will do great. I'm actually anticipating this drama since I've learned about it. So excited for next episodes!!

If she really is a Lee then she is a royal and thus she can even marry the prince. Yes, during those times you can even marry your sister but it was not practiced as often as during earlier dynasties like Silla for example.. Dont let other people feel hopeless just because you dont like the drama..
If people still cant believe me you can search for Lee Sun who became Crown Prince Myeongbo and later on King Sukjong. Yes, he is the famous king who switched from one faction to another and totally changed the Joseon history. I cant figure out who the historical figure So Hyun portrays as she is named Han Ga Eun in which any historical books she didnt appear,even her name.. It could be an alias, she could be the crown princess who died at the age of 19 because Queen Ingyeong's mother is from the Han clan (but her father is from the Kim clan so i'm not sure if she is indeed Queen Ingyeong unless she is an illegitimate child so she can only have her mother's name but even in those times even though you're an illegitimate child you can have your father's name unless she wasn't acknowledged by her father or he didnt know Ga Eun is his daughter, so she only used her mother's name). DONT BE DISCOURAGED BY WHAT BAEKGUH said because it will definitely be an amazing drama..

She's amazing and I can definitely see her pull this role off. You don't have to watch it if you really hate seeing her so much. I'm always waiting for a drama that she's in. Yoon So-Hee is good too, but she's starting out so she's a little stiff in some of roles. I can see potential in her and she's not type-casted because sometimes she plays on the good side role and sometimes she's a villain. I'm sure she will be given a chance in the future for a lead role.

Though she's still young, her acting skills is better than any other actress(not all). And when we talk about casting on this drama, you should consider someone with such a great talent to be the main lead. I'm not saying that Yoon So Hee isn't talented(because I know she is) but I think KSH is better than her for she is the one offered the main lead and not Yoon So Hee. I know that there are still lots of actress w/ such talent but it's not their time yet. Maybe they will be given a chance later on but for now, just accept the fact that Kim So Hyun is the main lead and not the one you wanted. We can't don anything about it anyways.

I've been, since 2012, wanting Yoo Seung Ho and Kim So Hyun to act side by side as leads--they look perfect together and match SO well--they have the right features to be equal which is TOUGH because both of them are SO SO STRONG in presence and skill. Those big beautiful dark eyes and lips on both of them can make people sob, giggle, smile ear to ear, ache... and their voices and mannerisms are so widely different in the characters I've seen them both portray over the years... They're definitely what I consider my "top tier talents" though I'm a little curious about Kim So Hyun being the one he loves... only because she's 17 and he's 23 and Korea is especially conservative on these sorts of matters-of course, I was shocked when I first saw she's such a youngster (born in June 1999). Of course, this pairing, visually and talent-wise perfect to my eyes, is not nearly as big a shock as Let's Fight Ghost (TaecYeon is 11 years older--16&27 were especially bizarre, even though she was playing someone who was 15/16 AND then became 20 or 21 upon waking from her coma and he was 23, I think, in the drama)... Anyway, I thought that pairing was only possible because a cable network produced it; she deserves all the top star pairings, though... a bit weird to be 16 and kissing a 27 year old, but she pulled it off better, honestly, than TaecYeon (then again, while I like what I've seen him in including Let's Fight Ghost and the other ghastly one Who Are You, she is funnily his veteran by many years and appearances :P)... Hurry up this, Defendant (at least that one is only a couple weeks away), and While You Were Sleeping!!

Off the drama from the comment section and back to the drama....The cast look really awesome including the young rising talents KSH/YSH pair. Besides, sageuk is always my favorite drama genre. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully the writer and the PD are up to par with the acting talents.

Then f(x) krystal and Rain would have sucked to the heck. L stole the thunder from constipated Rain in My Lovely Girl (that should change name to My Lovely L or My Lovely Dog since these two creatures were the only two living things worth watching in that downer show). LMAO. Yeah right, a lot of i fans like me is gonna check out this drama bcuz L since we were much impressed by his performance in My Lovely Garbage than the OTP.

And the one who said that 90% of the viewers will watch this drama 'cause of the idol (L?) is sh*t. Though L is famous as an idol, most of his fans/antis don't like to see him act. And almost all of the comments I read 'bout him casting this drama suck! I haven't watch him act yet but most of them said he's a bad actor. But I'm still glad that he joined the casting. Maybe he has improved his acting skills. And maybe the director find him suitable for his role. Don't judge him first. Let's watch the drama before judging him. SO much talent in just those two humans it's astonishing... this and Defendant (Ji Sung is back in January!) and Jade Lover (come on, China, release Lee Jong Suk's show already!)... I'm finally getting truly excited for hibernation season (currently the shows on are mostly meh with the amazing stuff only giving me a couple hours each in a week and being far and few between)... oh, Goblin, too, has my hopes up! His beauty is what you call unique, his face could go from innocent to cold.. L just have this idol ish look to him, and almost heavily make up at all time.. L is going to be playing his doppelganger lookalike that include him imitating the way ysh speaks, talks, acts, face expression and body acting the writer was high i guess because i don't even think they look alike, maybe a little bit but not much.. L and kim bum do look alike though..

Ysh's character was a lot different, his role was heavier meatier, he was the best thing about remember but if you're the type that like fun characters and not appreciate brilliant acting, there is no way your opinion wouldn't be different..

I mean, its okay to make historical drama with them as the leads, but why not trying to make Another Type of Story? Like Kim Sae Ron drama, its historical but the story is totally different with moonlight, its about the a cursed princess and a son of concubine with magical and fantasy theme. See the different right? Why it should be crown prince and ordinary girl again??
Because of this a lot of fans think that this drama is following moonlight and trying to make success like moonlight.. I just Hope if the story is Different, fans would not think like that..
